Lest We Forget Concert

Sat 3 Nov 2018

Reading Scottish Youth Members took part in the Lest We Forget Concert at NEC Birmingham on Saturday 3rd November as part of the National Youth Pipe Band of England.

Looking brilliant and sounding great! Well done to all our young players and well done to Bill and Lesley whose vision, leadership and perseverance has created this band.

It was a great experience for them to be part of this national event, playing alongside the Birmingham School Symphony Orchestra, The Ealing Youth Orchestra and many other youth bands and choirs. In performing as the National Youth Pipe Band of England, our youngsters played alongside pipers and drummers from a number of schools and bands in the South of England. A big thank you to all of their parents for the support they have given, and to all of the tutors at Reading Scottish who have helped the Youth Members over the last two years and not least our QM LQ who has kitted them out to a very high standard!

Here is a message from the concert organiser, Ron Dawson

“Thank you for the outstanding contribution your Pipers and Drummers made to concert. From the moment the lone piper struck up the stage and audience were electrified, I personally found it incredibly moving and disbelieving that this was their debut performance. Their performance was among the most inspiring of the whole concert. I genuinely felt humbled by it.
Please our thanks and thoughts to each and every one of your players and our hopes and belief that they will go on to achieve much greater success and recognition in the years to come”.

Well done to:
Pipers: Finn, Poppy, James, Cameron
Drummers: Enes, Elize, Matt, Eamonn

Marching onwards!!
